Set up referrals

Referrals rewards customers with points or store credit, so it needs Joinery Points & Rewards or Joinery Gift Cards & Store Credit as well.

   Open the settings

   Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Referrals.

   Set the friend’s discount

   Under The friend’s discount, choose A percentage off their products or A fixed amount off their order, and the Amount or percentage. Add a Minimum spend if you like. Remember the link for (days) is how long a friend who followed a link still gets the discount when they come back.

   Set the reward

   Under The referrer’s reward, choose Points or Store credit, then How much: a fixed number of points or amount of credit, or a share of what the friend spent. Choose when to Give it, and optionally the Most rewards per customer. Click Save changes.

Referral codes are coupons, so WooCommerce’s coupons must be on: WooCommerce → Settings → General → Enable the use of coupon codes.

How it works for customers

• Every signed-in customer finds their link and code in My account → Referrals.
• A friend who follows the link gets the code added to their cart as soon as they add something. They can also type the code in the coupon field.
• The discount is for a first order only, and never works on the customer’s own code or on gift cards.
• When the friend’s order is paid or completed (your choice), the customer gets their reward and an email saying so. If that order is cancelled or refunded in full, the reward is taken back, as far as it hasn’t been used.
