Set up points and rewards
Choose how customers earn points, what points are worth and when they expire. Customers then use them as money off.
- 1
Open the settings
Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Points & rewards. Points work as soon as the plugin is active; these settings change how.
- 2
Choose how points are earned
Under Earning points, set Points for each $1 spent (on products after discounts, without tax or shipping), and Give points: When the order is completed is safest, because nothing is given for orders cancelled before you ship. Points for creating an account gives new customers a welcome. Points expire after (months) is 0 for points that never expire.
- 3
Choose what points are worth
Under Using points, set how many Points are worth how much, such as 100 points are worth $1. Fewest points to use stops customers using a handful of points, and Points can pay up to (%) caps how much of the products points can pay for. Click Save changes.
Points are taken off as a discount, so WooCommerce’s coupons must be on: WooCommerce → Settings → General → Enable the use of coupon codes. The settings page tells you if they’re off.
What customers see
- Product pages say how many points a product earns. Turn this off with Product pages in the settings.
- Signed-in customers with enough points see an offer in the cart and at checkout, such as “Use 1,100 of them for $11.00 off this order”. One click takes the points off; Stop using points puts them back. Guests are invited to sign in.
- My account → Points shows their balance and what it’s worth, when the next points expire, how they earn more and every change.
Tip: Points are money off, so tax is charged on the reduced price. In the block cart the discount appears as a coupon called joinery-points; that’s the points, and removing it stops using them.
Cancellations and refunds
If an order is cancelled or refunded in full, the points used on it come back to the customer, and the points it earned are taken back, as far as they haven’t been used. Gift cards never earn points and can’t be paid for with points.
